The Phoenix Veterans Administration Hospital Pharmacy has let patients be discharged from the hospital in pain, no matter how bad, if he, the veteran, has had to take more than the prescribed amount of his medication to control his pain!
This just recently happened to me, I doubled up a pain med to get my pain under control. (the same amount given to me while I was in the hospital)
This is not good news to those of us that depend on our doctors to help manage and control pain.
The ward I was being discharged from did all they could do to help. It's hard to help when the department your asking is not communicating.
I have had to sign a "narcotics agreement" which lets the pharmacy snoop around to see if I have been getting narcotics out side the hospital.
This is not something I have ever done. The doctors at the Veterans Administration are my only doctors!
